Transportationusedtobeabigproblem.Whenwetraveledfromtowntotown,weusedtowalkorridehorses.Laterwehadbusesbutmanyvillagersstillchosetowalkbecausetheywantedtosavemoneyfortheirfamilies.Sometimeswedreamtofflyinglikeabirdandtravelingtosomeplacesfarfromoursmallvillage.
Shoppingwasnotaneasyjob,either.Therewerenotanysupermarketsintheneighborhood.Weusedtoexchangethingswewantedwithpeoplefromneighboringtowns.Weusedtogrowmostofourownfood:riceandvegetables.Eatingmeatwastooexpensiveforusandweonlyhadatasteinbigfestivals.Wedidn'thaverefrigeratorssowekeptthingscoolinaspecialundergroundroom.
However,thebiggestdifferenceisthatyouhaveelectricity,whichhaschangedyourlifeinmanyways.Wedidn'thaveelectricityuntilverylateinoursmallvillage.Atnight,weusedtolightcandles(蜡烛)andburnwoodtokeepwarm.Wedidn'thavetelevisionofcourse,butthatdidn'tmeanwehadnofun.Weusedtoperformourlocalmusicandenjoyedthetimeverymuch.
