Abstract
Nickel-coatedsilkcomposites(Ni/silkfiber)werepreparedbyelectrolessnickel-platingusingakindofnaturalsilkastemplateinfirststage.ThesilktemplateswerethenremovedtogetNihollowfiberbyannealingtheNi/silkfiberat220°Cfor2hinairor700°Cfor1.5hinnitrogen.ThepreparedNi/silkfiberandNihollowfiberwerecharacterizedbyX-raydiffraction(XRD),scanningelectronmicroscope(SEM),fieldemissionscanningelectronmicroscope(FE-SEM)anddifferentialthermalanalysisandthermogravimetricanalysis(TG-DTA).Thevaluesofcomplexpermittivity,complexpermeability,dielectricandmagneticlossofNi/silkfiberandNihollowfiberweremeasuredinthefrequencyrangeof2–18GHzbyareflection/transmissionapproachusinganetworkanalyzer.TheresultsindicatethatthedielectriclossofNi/silkfiberandNihollowfiberishighupto1evenat18GHzwhilethemagneticlossislow.
