Carbondioxideisemittedfromburningfossilfuelsforthepurposeofelectricitygeneration.Coalaccountsfor93%oftheemissionsfromtheelectricityutilityindustry.Thereleasedcarbondioxidecontributestotheincreaseofgreenhousegasandcausesthetemperatureraise.Carbondioxideisalsoproducedfromtheheatingsystemsinbuildingsandhousesfromnaturalgasfurnacesandcoal-firedgeneration.Asidefromtheburningofgasoline,deforestationalsocontributestoglobalwarming.Cuttingdowntropicalforestswillcausemorecarbondioxideintheairbecausethetemperateforestsoftheworldabsorbs2billiontonsofcarboneachyear.
