Mobilephonesaremoreimportantthaneverinthedailylivesofstudentsbuthowtheyusethemhaschangedgreatlyinthepastsixyears.Whilephonesarestillwidelyusedforcommunicationarecentstudyhasfoundthatmoststudentsthinktalkingonmobilephonesisnowoldfashioned.
LondonUniversityresearcherssurveyed1055youngpeopleaged13to18abouttheirmobilephonehabits.Theresearchersdividedmobilephoneuseinto“communicationand”and “entertainment”.Communicationincludedtalkingonthephoneandwritingmessagesusingtexting(短信)orchattingsoftware.EntertainmentwasmadeupofplayinggameswatchingmovieslisteningtomusicandsurfingtheInternet.Thefindingswerethencomparedtoa2008studytoseewhatchanged.Theresultsareshownbelow:
