Neverlostfaithinhimself,thescientistwasdeterminedtocarryonwiththeresearch,nomatterwhatotherssaid.
后一句里...wasdeterminedto.书上举得错不是这里,是losting.但是我觉得...wasdeterminedto.明明是主动句怎么能用被动语态呢?

应该用losing,后面没错.
因为前面小分句是做后句的状语,而状语与主句的主语是要一致的,也就是说,这个thescientist也是状语从句的主语.
所以这里从句中不需要用被动,应该用主动.
bedeterminedtodo=decidetodo,这个不是被动,而是一种用法,就是决定的意思.
