SoonIlearnedaboutBUNAC,aprogramthatseemedtobedesignedpreciselyforstudentwithsuchinterests.BUNACoffersworkvisas(签证)forstudentsorrecentgraduatestoworkoverseas.Ofthesixcountriesavailable,IchoseEnglandbecauseofthelanguageandopportunitiesforemployment.
TwomonthsafterIgraduatedfromcollegeIwenttoBritain.ItraveledthroughoutEuropeforsixweeksbeforearrivinginLondon.IgottoLondononAugust24,1997withaworkvisa,butnojoborplacetolive.Ihavetoadmititwasprettyscary!ThedayafterIarrived,IexperiencedmyfirstBritishholiday---aBankHoliday,anationalholidaythateverythingisclosedfortheday.Itwasn’tuntilmythirddaythatIvisitedtheBUNACofficeandIlearnedallaboutlivingandworkinginBritain,payingtaxes,gettinghealthinsurance,travelingaroundBritain,findingaccommodationsandmostimportantly,findingajob.IwasmostscaredaboutfindingajobsincemyfinancialresourceswererunninglowandIneededtogetmypaysoon.
Itturnedoutthatfindingajobwasnotsodifficult.TheBUNACprogramisverywellknowninLondonandmanyemployersparticipateintheprogram.Asaresulttherearemanyemployersinmanydifferentfieldstochoosefrom.MyjobsearchbeganwhenIchosethreedifferentbusinessemployersandfaxedthemmyresume(简历).ThatfirstweekIhadthreeinterviews.IacceptedmyfirstofferworkingforMerrillLynchInternationalBank.TheMerrillLynchofficeIworkedatwasinabeautiful,oldbuildinglocatedtwoblocksfromBuckinghamPalace.Thepeoplewereniceandtheworkinteresting.
