EveryTuesday,mydaughtershavetwohoursofsoftballpractice.ThisiswhenIheadaroundthecornertothelibraryandworkonmyweeklyclassnewsletter,gradepapersandvisitHelpOthoers.Ialsodoactsofkindness.Ihaveputhomemadesmilecardsinlibrarybooksandalsoleftmoneywitha'pleaseenjoythisrandomactofkindness'noteatthereferencedesktopaysomeone'slatefines.Tonight,IattachedahomemadesmilecardandRandomActsofKindness(RAK)cardtoasmallbagofLindorchocolates.AsIwalkedintothelibrary,Iheadedtomyusualareanearthereferencedeskandplacedthebagonatable.Isatinacomfychairnearthetableanddidsomework.Itwassointerestinghowquicklythelibrarystaffnoticed!Iheardatleastfourdifferentworkerssaysomethinglike,"Hey,didyouseethat?"astheypointedtothechocolate.Amagazinedisplayblockedmyviewabit,butIwouldhearwhispers.ThereferenceworkerwhoIhadpreviouslygiventhemoneytopayfineswastheretonightworking.MythoughtwasthatshenoticedmeandthefamiliarbluehomemadeRAKcardandwaswhisperingtoexplainwhatIhaddonepreviously.Forforty-fiveminutes,Iwouldtypeandlookup.Itwasinterestingtowatchaspeopleslowedtoreadthecard,butkeptgoing.Ithinkmanyfeltuncomfortabletakingitbecauseitwasoutintheopen.Ifigureditmighttakesometime,andthenIdoveintogradingpapers.Attheendofanhourandhalf,Ipackeduptogetthegirls.AsIglancedup,Inoticedthechocolatewasgone!HowdidIpossiblymisssomeonetakingit?!ThenIwasleftwondering-manorwoman,youngorold,I'llneverknow.ButIdohopetheyenjoyedit,andI'msogladtheytookit.AsIusuallydo,Ivisitedbrieflywiththesoftballmomsattheendofpracticetorecapmykindnessactsfortheweek.Isharedtheexcitingnewsaboutmykindnessarticleandtoldthemaboutthelibraryactsofkindness.I'venowcometothinkofsoftballnightasKindnessTuesday.
