tookplaceinMelbourne,Australia.Andin2009itwasheldinMilan.ThelatestHomelessWorldCupwas
heldinRiodeJaneiro,BrazilinSeptember2010.Paris2011HomelessWorldCuptakesplaceAugustfollowed
bytheMexicoCity2012HomelessWorldCup.
Thesuccessofthecompetitionhasbeenintwoaspects-toattracttheworld'sattentiontotheproblemsof
homelessnessandalsotohelpparticipantsliveabetterlife.
AccordingtoasurveybytheHomelessWorldCupOrganizationafter2006HomelessWorldCup,92%of
theplayershadanewmotivationforlife,93playerssuccessfullygotridoftheirdependencyondrugsand
alcohol,44%improvedtheirhousingsituationand72%continuedtoplayfootball.
