CreightonwasborninIndiain1944.Hewasthemiddlechildoffiveandhisfatherworkedontherailways.In1949,theCarvellofamilyreturnedtoEnglandandsettled(定居)inMiddlesbrough,whereCreightonspenttherestofhislife.Hisfatherfirstnoticedhisgreattalentwhen,aged7,hestartedtomemorizeinformationfromcigarettecardswithpicturesofplanesandcars.
Afterleavingschool,Creightondevelopedhistalentbymemorizingmoreandmoreinformation.Hesoonbecamepopularasheperformedinclubstoshowhisgreatmemory.HerememberedthetelephonenumberofanyonecalledSmithwholivedintheMiddlesbrougharea.Hefirstgotintotherecordbooksinhisthirties.Hetravelledaroundtheworld,showedupontelevisionandamazedtheaudiencewithhismemory.
Creightonwasamanofmanytalents,includingwritingsongs,drawingandtellingjokes.
Inhislastyears,Creighttonmovedtocarehome.Theoldpeopletherewouldtesthismemorywithquestionssuchasnamingwhatdayoftheweektheywerebornon.Onlydaysbeforehedied,oneladygaveherdateofbirth,July29,1921andCreightonimmediatelyreplied,“Friday”.HediedonNovember18,2008.
