EmotionallyexhaustedHenryreturnedhometoGenevabutstruggledtoforgetthetrauma(伤害)ofCastiglione.HisdreamsofbusinessinAlgeriafaded(减弱).Heknewhehadtodomoreabouttheinhumanity(不人道)ofwaranddecidedtowriteabookaboutthesituationinCastiglione.InhisbookAMemoryofSolferinopublishedin1862hecalledfortrainedprofessionalswhocouldproviderelieftothewoundedduringwarreliefwithoutfearofattack.
Henrywasagoodspeakerandwriteranddecidedtoputthesetalentstouseinsupportofhiscause.AdditionallyhemailedcopiesofhisbooktogovernmentalleadersthroughoutEurope.FourmenfromtheGenevaPublicWelfareSocietyjoinedHenryandorganizedaconferenceonthetopicin1863.36peoplerepresenting14Europeangovernmentsattended.Thenextyeartheydiditagain.ThatsessionbecameknownastheGeneva(日内瓦)Convention.Thegroupalsoagreedthatthesymbolofthereliefworkerduringtimesofb
