TheWolverinedepositconsistsoftwodiscrete,tabular,massivelenses,eachapproximately250mlong,termedtheWolverineandLynxzones(Fig.4A).A200-m-longzoneofsemimassive,replacementsulfideandsulfide-stringerveins,namedtheHumpzone,separatesthetwomassivesulfidezones(Fig.4A).TheWolverinedepositis700mlong,atleast475mwide,andbetween1and10mthick.Insomelocalities,suchasinthethickestpartsoftheLynxzone,therearemultiplesulfidelensesseparatedby4to8mofargilliteorrhyolite.Thedepositstrikesnorthwestanddipsapproximately30°tothenortheast.Thesulfidelensespinchoutontheirupdipedgeapproximately50mbelowsurface,andthedowndiplimits(knownto500m)havenotyetbeendefinedbyexplorationdrilling.
FourdiscretezonesofsulfidestringerveinsareidentifiedattheWolverinedeposit(Fig.4B).Theyextendupto13mbeneaththebaseofmassivesulfideintheWolverineandHumpzones.Twoadditionalstringerzonesidentifiedonthewesternandsouthwesternupdipedgesofthedeposit(drillholes81and97;Fig.4B)mayhaveunderlainsulfidelensesthatarenowerodedaway.Replacement-stylesulfidezonestypicallysurroundandoccuraboveandoutboardofthestringerveins.Chalcopyriteisthedominantsulfidemineralinreplacementzonesproximaltothemainstringerzones,locatedmainlydowndiptothenortheastoftheHumpzone(Fig.4B).Chalcopyritereplacementzonesgradeintosimilar,butsphalerite-rich,zonesonthefringesofthedeposit.SuchgradationsoccurmostnotablyatthewesternupdipedgeoftheLynxzoneandthenortheasterndowndipedgeofboththeLynxandWolverinezoneswheremineralizedrockattainswidthsof13m(Fig.4B).
ThedistributionofCu(Fig.5A)reflectsthedistributionofreplacement-stylemineralizedrocksintheHumpzone.Conversely,ZnandPbareconcentratedinthemassivelayeredsulfidesonthefringesofthedeposit(e.g.,Fig.5B,C)stratigraphicallyabovethesulfidestringerveinandreplacementzones.ThisissimilartotheclassicmetalzonationobservedintheJapaneseKurokodeposits(e.g.,Eldridgeetal.,1983).
Thesemimassivesulfidesdisplayasimilarlateralzoningtothemassive
