provideddesignsforthechapelatBrūhl,(1730-40)andthehunting
lodgeFalkenlust(1729-40)butasCharlesAlbert'sinterestsshifted
toMunich,healsoreturnedtoMunich.Therehisfamewasestablished
bythedecorsoftheReicheZimmerintheMunichResidenz,whichhad
beendamagedbyafire,14December1729.Thecontentsofthe
Schatzkammerfortunatelyhadbeenspared,andCuvilliéswas
commissionedtodesignthepanellingofanewinterior,tobeexecuted
bythecourt'spremiercarverJoachimDietrich.[3]withfourrococo
gildedconsoletablesonscrollinglegswithplayfuldragons[4]
HismasterpieceistheAmalienburgintheparkatNymphenburg,built
1734-39,withsilveredorgildednaturalistRococodecorationssetoff
bycolouredgrounds.Asthe1911EncyclopaediaBritannicacommented,
"hisstyle,whileessentiallythin,isoftenpainfullyelaborateand
bizarre.Hedesignedmirrorsandconsoles,balustradesforstaircases,
ceilingsandfireplaces,andinfurniture,bedsandcommodes
especially".
TheResidenztheater,or"CuvilliésTheatre"(1751-1755)designedand
constructedforElectorMaxIIIJosephbyCuvilliées;thoughthe
theatrewasbombedduringWorldWarII,thecarvedandgildedboxes
hadbeendismantledandstoredforsecurity.Afterwardsthe
Residenztheatrewasmeticulouslyrecreatedinthe1950s
